Founded in 1584, Gosset is the oldest wine producer in Champagne. At that time, the wines of Champagne were still table wines produced from pinot noir and chardonnay; the wines from Ay were ranked with the wines of Beaune as the finest in France. It was not until the 18thCentury that the production of sparkling wine began; to this day Gosset uses the same antique flask bottle that was first used in the 1700’s. Today Champagne Gosset is owned by the Cointreau family, also owners of Cognac...
Crystal-clear, pale golden-yellow hue. Fine, lively and imperious, evenly distributed throughout the glass, fed by a constant stream of lively bubbles. Light and lasting. Intense, elegant and warm, first and foremost a vehicle for mellow, potent, yet very fresh and floral aromas. Both fresh and delicate, following on from the initial sensation of crispness and a well-established vitality to suggest the richness of a blend where floral aromas have all but disappeared, replaced by the sweet and comforting flavours of ripe, fleshy fruits, such as bush peaches and nectarines. An earthy taste with hints of minerals released from sunbaked stones can be detected, revealing the subtle fragrance of spices, such as cinnamon, cardamom and green pepper. The finish is smooth, delicate, irresistible, where the deliciously sensual flavours of candied fruit, cinnamon cake and liquorice can clearly be identified.
